Softskill (Type 2)


1. What parts of our material culture reflect cultural diffusion?
Answer :
I think the global diffusion of Indonesia is Batik.
Batik be one fashion trend in many other countries. To the extent that Batik was claimed by
the other side. However, now known to the world as belonging to native Indonesia. Batik is also
preferred from all walks of life and it spreads abroad. Some overseas artists ever to wear Batik. 


2. Examples of Ethnocentrism :
1. In Japan, people who were eating noodles often make a sound when fired noodles. That suggests that people who eat it are enjoying the food.
2. Toraja funeral rituals are important social events, usually attended by hundreds of people and lasting for several days. Toraja people believe that the dead can bring fortune to a life after death.
3. Yogyakarta. Introduce customary courtesy in any case. In court, the nobles considered good
manners and etiquette that make the culture
better than others. 


Global Diffusion in Indonesia (the opinion)
Indonesia is one country that is creative and not  waste the opportunity to be a good business  opportunity. As we know, many animations from  overseas entertainment for children. And with a  good idea, many Indonesian people who make it  into a business which makes stuffed characters from the animation. In fact, the dolls are made in  the importation into the country of origin of the animation. And also there are many more results made in Indonesia being used or utilized abroad.

Softskill (Type 1)


1. What are the similaritie or the differences between ethnocentism and cultural relavitism?
Answer :
- similaritie : understanding other cultures and their beliefs.
- differences : Cultural relativism is that notion that allows to see the different habits, traits and values of an individual in the relevance of his or her cultural values.
Ethnocentrism on the other hand is the extreme opposite of cultural relativism. This notion falls in deep and sharp contrast to cultural relativism which focuses on the better and unbiased understanding of other cultures and the related values.



2. Examples of Cultural Shock :
1. If people who have been accustomed to eating with a spoon and fork, it feels different to be in a
Japanese restaurant, Korean or Chinese as a tool
to use chopsticks to eat.
2. In Indonesia, infant or newborn child must always
be near his mother. In terms of sleep, babies or children who are under age still sleep with their parents. As with the baby or child in the west.
Children are trained to do everything himself independently, even of babies are sleeping in a separate room from their parents.
3. In Korea, in the
workplace it is advisable to dress formally for the
first week or two and then adjust according to your
particular work environment. Women should take note that although you can wear short skirts, no cleavage should ever be shown.


Essay : give your own comment about cultural lag in Indonesia!

Indonesia is probably one of the countries lagging behind in terms of technology. The existence of the changing times, technology is getting longer - more intense. But many people are still left Indonesia on greatness facilities  available technology. As well as a drinks vending machines in public places. Public places such as train stations or TransJakarta bus stops have been provided drink vending machines. But unfortunately, rarely the people who use or make use of the facility. Different from other countries so utilize the facilities provided by the government.
